Blog #8: Math resources for the classroom!

Image
Hey everyone!! Today I wanted to share and discuss some of the resources that I have learned about over the last couple of months from the Ministry of Education site and the OAME website! When I was first introduced to the OAME website, I had never heard of it and I had no idea how to navigate this site. I was overwhelmed because there were so many different resources, lots of different links and I was downloading zip-files to my computer by accident. Once I became familiar with the site and I was listening to other students' findings, I was able to navigate the OAME website comfortably! I thought about what I wanted to use as an application problem, and I thought that using shadows would be great to find missing measurements. I ended up creating 2 problems, the first was a visual problem, where I created an image with measurements. You can see the problem below: 1. Using similar triangles, solve for the height of the Brock Schmon Tower. For this problem, I used geogebra and I messed around with the site so that everyone could work together on the site to solve the problems, but I was unable to figure it out. While creating this image, I lost my work twice, so it took me a while to create the image and be...
